Last Saturday I blogged about my findings at a Scout jumble sale and was really excited as I knew it wasn’t long until my next shopping visit (today). I keep a diary of all the jumble sales coming up months in advance in and around my area so I don’t miss them. I also scour the web, local noticeboards and newspapers where I can as you never know what you’ll see which you might need or just plain old been wanting something for ages.
So, as I had so much fun last week photoing and sharing my finds, I’m doing it again… and hopefully another tomorrow!
Today was especially cool as I got a rare opportunity to be offered a dozen red roses in a charity shop for purchasing but insisted on giving a donation. Oh, I am going to have fun like a real blogger to use them in some photos and they look so pretty in my hall next to my antique mirror. Obviously I felt flattered and felt I looked loved while I strutted around Hinckley town.
In fact, the £2 camel Twiggy-eque hat I’m posing in for my photos was bought from Age UK charity shop where I was offered the kind gesture. I did feel like a #twatinahat testing it out but I instantly embraced the Autumn chill, dressed in my 25p French Connection grey wool polo neck for the first time which I found in a Summer jumble. You see, I’m totally addicted!
My once I got home, I laid out my finds in my home studio, the rest that you see being strictly jumble sale pieces. No, I would never put this outfit together, but I’ve been meaning to get round to a fun birdseye view of my clothes and whatnot.
This 50p frying pan for eggs (or pancakes) is a perfect example for not wanting to waste money but I’ve always thought they looked fun. It’s funny though that when I’m at a jumble, my spirits are high, it’s all for charity, but if I saw this 50p in a proper shop, I sit here thinking, would I have still bothered? I thiiiiiink so… Well, 50p is not worth stressing about I suppose. Then for my food blog, Tastefully Vikkie, I could not resist both of these vintage and sweet silver serviette rings for 25p. Hopefully I can put them to good use very soon.
And with Christmas party season fast near approaching, I ummed and ahhed over a £2 shimmering black Forever 21 bodycon dress. Leggings are essential, I hear myself. I have the exact same style in purple from Miss Selfridge and insanely I paid about £35 and the nylon fabric is too cheap to warrant what I paid but it’s no doubt a sexy cut. So I like to think I clawed back what I originally paid, even though I think £2 is quite dear these days.
Here’s something I never thought I would see. These were brand new mauve suede and ditsy print trainers from Next, costing me £2. You know why I like them? It’s a girly hybrid of Back to the Future’s converse trainers. It won’t quite go with my red Marty McFly gilet, but I had to have these statement shoes. Are they like Marmite? Love or Hate them? Comment below!
And finally for a little trial and error. We’ve still only got a couple of rooms decorated and because we have to move our staircase in the photo and build a partition wall, I won’t spend heavily on themes yet for the house. This is why I had to pick this glass light pendant for 50p. It’s a champagne sort of colour and one to practice with. I wasn’t 100% sure when I picked it up but it was a damn sight better than a naked bulb.
I feel completely privileged that I’ve been able to take photos of my new dozen red roses to end my blog. Generally speaking, I think flowers are so pretty and as my home is similar to a building site, very rarely buy them. I just wish they would last forever, but at least photos of them can.
I don’t like shopping many other ways any more, or at least high prices and have been saving towards our more important home renovations. I’m even more excited as tomorrow I’m going to yet another jumble which is just round the corner from my house. I’m struggling to contain myself; it’s rare to find three jumbles within over a week of each other.
Anyhow, I hope this has inspired you to get looking for any jumble sales near you where you can end up treating yourself more often than most!
