For the last two Sunday mornings, we’ve been wanting to pop along to our closest car boot to look for the last few stocking fillers, such as new scarves and accessories for family. However, wet weather has meant muddy fields so they’ve all been cancelled but today we were in luck, or at least sort of.
We are also first time home buyers with our first ever mortgage, yet with major renovations, so have tried to save our pennies here, there and every where. This has also meant that I haven’t had chance to buy any nice clothes because they’re bound to get paint on them and I’ve been desperate for the little things, like new underwear etc.
Sadly we had no such luck finding gifts we thought were acceptable, but on the other hand, it was a great opportunity to stock up for ourselves. My fiance and I found plenty of socks. I found three packs with three pairs in each, costing a total of £3.75. Amazing! Although they’re not as premium as they say, they’re good enough and cute too.
The other week, I complained about having gone through two pairs of £40 Hunter wellies which both split on the same seam and had heard Dunlop ones are the absolute best and last years. I’ve seen numerous new pairs on markets for a pound but never my size until today; and still £1! Get in, I thought! So now I have these along with my bargain £4.99 Decathlon ones which will suit my morning dog walks and traipsing in our unfinished garden which resembles a buildig site.
And finally, I found several packs of seeds, only 10p each; I would have taken them all, but don’t want to be inundated with a small variety and had to dismiss most of the root vegetables as we have clay soil. However, I’ll try my luck with beetroot and hope for the best. This year I tried butternuts but failed due to late sprouting but know they’ve been easy before, so will try germinating in February or March this year.
I wish I could have found a few more things today but thought this was a perfect short and sweet haul. Next I’m on the look out for bras and knickers, but think that might have to be a high street shopping session at Marks and Spencers. Some things I just don’t like to scrimp on too much like the rest of them.
