I’m frightened how frightening technology seems to be slipping away from me. There’s so many devices we have or I’ve seen that I see absolutely no use for. And because of that, I usually forget to use things. Now I’m not saying I don’t like technology. I love kitchen gadgets, my laptop, camera, etc. But what about the new Amazon Echo Dot?
Ever since I set it up yesterday, the vibe in our home took me back to the Simpson’s Tree House of Horror XII where Pierce Brosnan’s voice tries to kill Homer. But setting that aside, I’m rather liking that I installed it and not my fiance. It’s forced me to get to grips with it right from the start.
It’s currently at £49.99 so it didn’t feel like it broke the bank and so far, I’m loving it mostly for turning on the radio with my voice.
It love how it’s hands-free while I’m working. It tells the time, plays music (if you have some on your device of say a Spotify account) but what I’m afraid to do it use it as a diary and create a shopping list. You can beat pen to paper in my opinion; it helps me get organised, despite sometimes losing scrap pieces of paper.
The silly random questions start to wear off but was very useful to find out who won the US Election.
We’re now thinking about possibly buying some Hive Active plugs to turn other on things with our voice, like lamps etc.
If you’re curious too, here’s my unboxing video and how I set it up. It was more like an Idiot’s guide where the blind led the blind, so I hope it’s useful if you’re trying your best to embrace technology too!
