Here we have a before and after pics of the corner cabinet now completed.
Unfortunately I will have to make this blog post very quick as I had already written a blog on this last night - and when coming to publish on the app, it had completely disappeared with a link to my food blog (although I hadn't typed it out) so may be steering clear of the app for a while.
This has been a pleasure to paint over a day and a half.
I am not a fan of mahogany coloured wood - if it is authentic, then this is a different story.
Again, I documented this for my YouTube Channel, also called Vikkie's Vintage. It is a no-frills type channel as I am getting down right dirty and getting my job done.
Hopefully it will be edited and live in the next day of two.
So, how did I do it? (I'll make it brief).
- Removed hardware
- Protected the glass both sides with masking tape & newspaper
- I keyed the surface with 80 grit sandpaper all over
- wiped over with a damp cloth
- Gave one thin coat of Leyland's acrylic primer and undercoat
- Two thin coats of Wickes' (now discontinued) Victorian White Chalky Flat Matt paint
- Gently sanded with finishing sandpaper
- Gave it a coat of Ronseal's Supergel clear satin varnish
- Gently sanded with fine finishing paper
- Replaced hardware
I am very sorry this blog is brief as I am now on to my 2nd project of the week - an antique sideboard.
