How to Fit an Integrated Fridge Freezer Door Slider

For two to three years, we have never had an integrated fridge freezer door slider attached. And the reason being, they're INCREDIBLY hard to find online if you don't know what they're called. So, I make it my mission to show you what to buy and how to fit it.

One of my pet peeves is someone other than myself opening a new appliance, tool or product and misplacing the attachments.

I like to know what came with things, where the instructions are, otherwise it can be a jigsaw puzzle.

In our case, someone we know fitted the majority of our appliances, but hadn't finished this job. And after the fridge freezer door slider attachments had been thrown in a box with other stuff, we didn't know what we were looking for. And the instructions were nowhere to be seen.

REPLACEMENT INTEGRATED FRIDGE FREEZER DOOR SLIDER

After searching on and off for two years, we finally discovered this universal integrated fridge freezer door slider kit on Amazon.

Other things you'll need

• Combination square
• Pencil
• Combi drill
• 2mm drill bit

HOW TO FIT AN INTEGRATED FRIDGE FREEZER DOOR SLIDER

First, notice above that our integrated fridge freezer came with hole markers where to fit the door slider attachments.

So, I marked where halfway was.

Then I closed the door and marked from behind where the kitchen carcass starts.

I knew if I positioned the door slider attachment beyond this line, the door wouldn't close properly.

Then using a combinations square, I drew two straight lines using those marks. See above.

Next, I placed my attachment strip on the line on the back of the kitchen door. Meanwhile, ensuring the pencil lines matched half way between the holes.

Then predrilled shallow holes about 2mm deep, also using a 2mm drill bit with a combi drill. I followed on with screwing the plate on with the screws provided.

Here's a quick shot of how the attachment slides on. However, before we get to this bit, make sure you push on the screw cover piece.

This simply hides the screws.

ADDING THE LATCH TO THE INTEGRATED FRIDGE FREEZER

As you can see below, the replacement latch's holes didn't match the small indents on the edge of the door.

So, to cheat around this, I would either create new holes on the plate or on the edge of the fridge door itself. Again, using a 2mm drill bit.

And after slotting the latch on the longer strip, I predrilled two more 2mm drill holes before screwing.

Then I covered the exposed screws with the other cover that comes in the intregrated fridge freezer sliding door kit.

NOW YOU CAN CLOSE THE DOOR!

So there you go! If only I knew what these were called and knew how to fit them two years ago.

But because we could still open the doors, however awkwardly, we never treated this as a priority.
