I didn't realise how liberating tiling my own kitchen would be!  Girl Power and all that jazz!  And if you've watched any of my Kitchen DIY vlogs, you'll see that we started knocking walls out last November to get the best lay out.

And in a nutshell, two years ago we bought the cheapest house in a nice place, knowing we needed to renovate absolutely every room.  And if  I didn't have a carpenter/property developer Dad that could help or show us in the right direction, we'd be living somewhere else, for sure.

It's been far beyond a lick of paint here and a filling dint holes there.  My optimism burnt out months after moving in.  But since rebranding Vikkie's Vintage as The Carpenter's Daughter DIY blog, it's spurred me on to get things, take on a girl DIY challenge and see things through.  Hello mojo!

And after sourcing 20% off white Metro tiles in Homebase and overcoming my fear of Wickes' Wet Tile Cutting Saw, I was back in business!  I even learnt how to mitre a 3 way trim thanks to good ol' YouTube.  And any other tools I got, I just picked up from Screwfix, my favourite Toolstation, the 9mm white trim from Topps Tiles and plastic window sills from Eurocell (who by the way, do an amazing glass cleaner for £1-odd!)

Here's how our kitchen looked for most of last year.  It's hard to believe now when I walk in to make myself some breakfast.

The back door was removed and a window put in instead to allow for more work space.

The day we ripped it out completely!

And here's my behind the scenes vlog on how I did it!  Finally I can look forward to picking up some new tea towels, maybe a magnetic utensil holder and some other bits.
