I've been thinking about making my own window boxes for a few weeks now. But I've been scratching my head on the type of brackets to use.
In the end, I thought, "why not make some wooden ones"? The brackets looked easy, but I wasn't sure what structure of box would last longer.
So I took the opportunity to ask my Dad and he showed me how to make them down his woodyard. It's a shame I never took an interest while I grew up there.
Here's a list of what I used!
- Pressure treated timber - roughly 30mm x 37mm thickness
- Dad's nail gun
- Dad's woodyard Multico cross cut saw
- Bosch Combi Drill
- 6mm masonry drill bit
- Spax screws *I used gold
- Wood drill bits (roughly a 3 or 4mm for pilot holes)
- Torx screwdriver bit to attach the Spax screws
- Ronseal Clear Wood Preserve (I used a mucky brush by mistake)
- Spirit level
- Dickies Fogbuster Goggles (*GIFTED)
- Dickies Overalls/Boilersuit (*GIFTED)
- Dickies Safety Boots (*GIFTED)

Innovative idea. Very beautiful looking. I think we should give it a shade so that the wood does not get rot in the rainy season. Other than that the whole thing is quite beautiful to have.
