I really admire Kelly Hoppen's interior style. I love her soothing choice of textured neutrals and taupes but let's face it, my DIY home is a far cry from fancy decorative finishing touches yet. Plus I do wonder how it would cope with dog paw prints? I bet she has the answer though 😉
Anyway, Kelly popped up in my Facebook feed last Friday while she did a Facebook LIVE interview. Sadly I can no longer find it to transcribe my answered question (yes, she answered my question for tips on doing renovations on a budget!) It made my day but I'll paraphrase her response for you in bullets if it helps.
I asked if she had any tips for a first time buyer doing major renovations on a budget. She loosely said:
- Prioritise on the bills for electric, plumbing, heating etc first.
- Plan everything, but don't get plan too much that it drives you crazy or it can stop you getting things done.
- Always budget for things.
- And don't worry about the interiors as it's easily done affordably.
I suppose I have to be a bit patient though. We've got some serious jiggery-pokery to be done with every room, like moving a staircase to another room. Things like that have a massive dominoes effect but I'm very happy she answered.
I'll report back soon with any new changes to the house!
