First, melt the chocolate, butter and syrup in a glass bowl, resting on top of a pan of simmering water.
Or, melt the chocolate in short bursts in a microwaveable jug while the melting the syrup and butter in a saucepan. Once melted, mix all the ingredients together, including the Rice Krispies until well coated.

Then grease a baking dish, approximate 20-30cm squared or rectangular.

Cover with clingfilm and place in the fridge for a few hours or overnight to set and harden.

There are many ways you can decorate your rice krispies treat. You can entitely cover in chocolate of your choice and top with marshmallows.
As mentioned, I used what we had and this was a tube of Choco Writer's milk chocolate. You only need a little per rice krispies treats, making them more calorie conscious. It comes hard in the tube and requires resting in boiling water for 2-3 minutes.
Or you could melt any chocolate and use a piping bag. Or for a more rustic look, melt and drizzle over with a teaspoon. Something I've done many a time to reduce mess!

What Equipment Do I Need?
You don't need anything special to make rice krispie treats as it requires no baking.
All you'll need is a container to use as a mould while you set it. However, here's what I used.
- Saucepan
- Spatula
- Large mixing bowl
- Pyrex dish (approx 28.5cm x 21cm

Alternative Ingredients
There are a couple of ingredients you can substitute for.
For example, instead of using golden syrup, you could melt marshallows with the butter instead.
Or, you can use agave syrup or honey.

Tips For Storing Your Chocolate Orange Rice Krispie Treats Recipe
The key thing you should do for your Rice Krispie treats recipe is to keep them in an air tight container. Otherwise they'll taste stale.
I also like to keep them in the fridge for up to 5 days to ensure a good bite. Although it's rare for them to be hanging around by then.
